Don’t Let Water get into your Boat

It was a warm day in May. We made our way to the dock and boarded our vessel. The motor purred in anticipation of making yet another trip to sea. People were laughing and children were running the length of the boat back and forth. Finally we set sail on our voyage to hopefully see a pod of dolphins playing in the vastness of the ocean. We made our way out of the inlet and the boat began to rock and sway, tipping front end and then back-end. We were in for a bumpy ride to say the least. I couldn’t help but think as I sat there looking out into the distance, what would happen if we began taking on water. Needless to say, this was the last trip my husband said he would ever take on the ocean. I however, would do it again in a heartbeat.

But you know, it’s the same way with Christians and the world. We were placed on the earth for God and his purpose of sharing the gospel with the people we come in contact with. What happens when the world gets in us instead of us getting into the world to share Christ? So many times, you see people doing absolutely crazy things and more times than not, some of these are Christians. God has chosen us to be different. As followers of Christ, we, as well as our actions, should be. The day in which we live doesn’t follow biblical principles at all. I mean, it’s gotten to the point of not even knowing if your safe and not going to be prey when doing something as simple as going to the restroom.

So what happened? The world got into too many. Christ didn’t intend it to be this way, He doesn’t want it this way. Satan has set in motion, confusion. It states in the bible that Satan is the author of it, looking around, you can see that. In Deuteronomy 7:6 it says ” For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all the people that are upon the face of the earth.”
Our actions should be different, our speech should be different, our lifestyle should be different. I’ve heard it said before that we are the only church some people may attend, we are the only bible that some may read. Don’t let water get into your boat and sink the only testimony of Christ many will see.
