Suffering in Silence

So many people we see as we walk down the street, go to the grocery store, make our way throughout our day to day lives. So many people are suffering and no one knows. A smile covers their face, covers their hurt, covers their sadness, covers their scars. Inside, they’re aching. Maybe aching to belong, to fit in, to be accepted, to simply be listened to and taken seriously. The majority of those people will get up and face everyday…alone. They won’t talk to anyone about what’s on their mind, how they’re feeling or anything. They may feel like they have no one to share that with. It’s a sad life when you’re alone. You simply go through the motions everyday. Everyone has a list of things to do to keep ones self occupied. But when do you get to your breaking point? When do you say enough is enough I can’t handle it anymore?

Everybody needs a friend, a hand to hold as you travel through this thing called  life. There are so many things that will be faced and some of those things, even though you want to believe they can, can not be dealt with alone. Suffering in silence doesn’t have to be a reality but unfortunately, it is for many. Take time today to smile at someone you pass on the street. Do something nice for them, a nice gesture, hold the door open, tip your hat. Something to let them know that there is still goodness left in the world. It may be all they’re looking for to hold on one more day.
