How Does your Appearance reflect Christ

I thought it to be only fitting that if I wrote about coffee comparisons last week, that I write about doughnuts this week to go along with it. Doughnuts and coffee go hand in hand, I’m sure it’s law somewhere.
What’s the reason you choose the doughnut you choose? We walk in the doors and the sweet aroma from all the baking immediately overtakes our senses. There they are, lined up to entice every customer that walks through the door and sprinkles to entice every child. Some fluffy, some chocolate, some filled, some plain. Let’s look at the process in how they become what they are and how we can compare our walk with the Lord and how we appear to him and other people in our Christian lives. I’m sure you’ll see the similarities.
Measuring up– For anything that’s going to be baked and be delicious , you have to have the right amount of all ingredients that will be added. If not, it will be a mess, not make any sense and not get anywhere near the potential it has to become. We, are the same way. God gave us this life to live abundantly.
We make the mistake in letting fear and worry stop us and steal our joy. God doesn’t have that in the ingredients for any of us. He has all the right things for us to measure up and reach our potential.
Kneading– Oh boy, you know where I’m going with this I bet. The mixture has to be pulled and stretched and mixed properly to ensure all the ingredients are properly combined, if not, the proper dough isn’t made. We face things in our lives that pull us and stretch us and “knead” us. For God is the potter and we are the clay. We should appreciate the “kneading” we go through because God’s getting us to where he knows we have the potential to go.
Resting, shaping, proofing, frying, decorating– Yes, the first one in this sequence means Patience. For the Lot of us, that may not be in our vocabulary, but it should be. Look at how patient God is with us. We are being shaped and proofed for his will and his will alone. That is his purpose for our lives, to honor and worship him. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator as you see in the last word of this sequence. When all the steps have been followed properly, when God is given his way with us, we are indeed displaying Christ within our lives. We are adorned with grace and mercy from Jesus. He has covered our sins and transgressions with his blood and we should be truly filled with his spirit. How does your doughnut look? Is it beautiful enough to show a non-believer how wonderful a life with God at the forefront can be?
