Something like that

Now when you read that title, what comes to mind? No, I’m not being rude for starters because my friend…she’s an amazing writer. She gave me some of her material to look over today and to give my opinion of. How do you say phenomenal and have them know you sincerely mean it? I mean really. It was one page after the next of great ideas and twists and the Romance I got to in her second booklet, you just know the story is going to be great. But it was just a teaser.  I was grasping for more when I reached the end. That my friends, is how you know you’ve got it.

I’ve chased many aspirations over the years. As a child, I wanted to be a figure skater then an gymnast in the Olympics. (Yes as a child, I dreamed bigger than I do now) I got married at 19 and a few years later, went to college and received my degree in Criminal justice.  I fell in love with the ocean and all the life it held within its bows. Sea life is fascinating and tickles my senses. But one thing that’s never changed….is my love for writing. I wasn’t the greatest in high school. Amongst the bullies, I hardly ever went. But when I did go, English was my favorite class and it was even in College. I write poetry, a children’s book as well as a novel.

But Riddle me this…

1. How do you get started? I called a publisher years ago whom said that it would cost X amount of dollars to proceed etc. But shouldn’t they be paying me for my material? Why would I pay them to publish it? It would almost be like me begging for them to take this from me. I would be saying ” Here,  take this and I’ll even pay you to like it and want to sell it.” I know for sure amongst all the dreams I dream,  I love writing the most.
